I understand it is the MIB RS232 socket on the back of a MX700 patient monitor that is the correct communication port for the VitalB software. We shall be using a laptop to download the software which has a 15-pin RS232 female socket. Will I need a serial conversion lead from the 9 pin RS232 laptop socket to the MIB RS232 on the back of the patient monitor. Is there such a thing?

Yes
You need a serial conversion.
Please refer to the intellivue monitor section in the 'Docs/Hardware connection guide' page to make an appropriate cable.

Have eventually successfully connected a laptop to a Philips MX700 patient monitor after making the correct cable. The waveforms now transfer from the MX700 to the Vital DB software installed on a laptop. However, when recorded and then played back, the waveforms look so compressed that they are unusable. We have set the frequency to 500 Hz. Can you please let me know, what software control should be used to decompress the waveforms?
