VitalRecorder crashing on connecting to two different Draeger ventilators #714
Hi
I've been trying to connect VitalRecorder to two different Draeger ventilators without success.
Platform: Windows 11
VitalRecorder Version: 1.15.11 (latest)
USB to Serial Adapter: StarTech USB to 4-Port Straight-Through RS232 Serial Adapter
Cables: StarTech.com DB9 RS232 Null Modem M/F Cable + F/F Gender Changer (not a null modem adapter)
Connection: PC – USB to 4-Port RS232 Adapter (M) – (F) F/F Gender Changer (F) – (M) DB9 M/F Null Modem Cable (F) – (M) Ventilator
Ventilators: Draeger Evita V800, Draeger Infinity C500
Settings – either of the following combinations:
- VitalRecorder "Draeger: Primus" device, MEDIBUS protocol selected, Baud Rate 9600, Parity Even, Stop Bits 1
- VitalRecorder "Draeger: MedibusX" device, MEDIBUS.X protocol selected, Baud Rate 19200, Parity Even, Stop Bits 1
With both ventilators, and either protocol (MEDIBUS and MEDIBUS.X), I can see the Rx and Tx lights flashing on my USB-to-Serial adapter for a few seconds, and shortly after, VitalRecorder crashes. There is no error warning on the computer. There is a "MEDIBUS connection failed" on the ventilator.
I've tried adjusting the following in my setup, which has either yielded exactly the same result (crash), or has resulted in no data transfer:
- Using the latest version of VitalRecorder (1.15.11)
- Trying new cables / adapters (including straight through cables, null model adapters, etc)
- Restarting the ventilators
- Trying different ventilators of the same model
- Adjusting the VitalRecorder device type, MEDIBUS protocol, Baud Rate, Parity and Stop Bits
Has anyone else had this problem? Is anyone successfully connecting to Draeger ventilators? If yes, can you please describe your setup comprehensively.
Kind regards
Luke Fletcher
