Connecting Medasense NOL Monitor to Vital Recorder – Direct RS232 connection or via Philips IntelliVue? #757
Hello everyone,
I would like to continuously record data from the Medasense NOL (Nociception Level) Monitor using Vital Recorder.
As far as I can see, the Medasense NOL Monitor is not currently listed among the officially supported devices.
I have a few questions:
1. Adding unsupported devices
Is it possible to manually add devices that are not included in the official compatibility list? Is there a way to configure a custom connection or implement a device-specific communication protocol?
2. Connection via Philips IntelliVue
Would it be possible to connect the Medasense NOL Monitor to a Philips IntelliVue patient monitor and then retrieve the NOL values through Vital Recorder using the IntelliVue interface?
Does Vital Recorder also record parameters received by IntelliVue from external devices, or is it limited to specific supported parameters?
3. Direct connection via RS232
The Medasense NOL Monitor has an RS232 interface. Would it be possible to connect it directly to Vital Recorder using this port?
Does Vital Recorder support manually configuring serial devices or implementing custom communication protocols for unsupported monitors?
If the RS232 communication protocol and data format were available from Medasense, would it be possible to integrate the NOL Monitor into Vital Recorder?
My main goal is to continuously record NOL index values alongside other physiological parameters, ideally with synchronized timestamps, for subsequent data analysis and research.
Has anyone already tried integrating the Medasense NOL Monitor with Vital Recorder, either directly via RS232 or indirectly through a Philips IntelliVue monitor?
I would greatly appreciate any advice, experiences, or suggestions regarding possible solutions.
Thank you very much for your help!
